Goodlow Primed to Defend Title After Securing Second IIAC Honor

IIAC Release
DUBUQUE, Iowa – Sophomore DuVaun Goodlow won his second Iowa Conference Track Performer of the Week award after leaping to an Iowa Conference leading mark of 2.06m/6’9” in his high jump win at the University of Dubuque Track and Field’s Spartan Twilight last weekend.

Goodlow secured his first IIAC Performer of the Week award after winning the high jump at the 2015 Iowa Conference Indoor Championships and is primed and ready to defend his title this Thursday through Saturday at the Iowa Conference Outdoor Championships. Goodlow is peaking at the right time as both outdoor high jump wins have come in the last three weeks when he won his first title with a mark of 2.03m/6’8” at the University of Dubuque Invitational on April 18.

The leap of 6’9” set a new personal outdoor record and falls just short of his 6’9.5” indoor best. The sophomore sits right below outdoor high jump record holder, Bryan Kuehn, who set the school record with a jump of 6’10.75” in 2002.

After barely missing All-American status (Top-8) at the NCAA Division III Indoor National Championships, Goodlow sits at 13th nationally in the high jump and looks to secure a spot at the NCAA Division III Outdoor National Championships for another shot at the podium. The Top-20 marks in the nation will qualify and Goodlow is a mere 0.25” ahead of five jumpers tied for 18th.

The Joliet, Ill. native majors in business.

Goodlow is tentatively scheduled to defend his IIAC indoor title this Friday, May 8 at 1:00 p.m. at the Outdoor Iowa Conference Championships hosted by Simpson College.
