UD Opening Convocation Set for September 15th

The 2015 University of Dubuque Opening Convocation is scheduled for Tuesday, September 15, 2015 at 10:45 a.m. in Butler Hall at Heritage Center. Dr. Jonathan Barz, Head of the Language and Literature Department and Professor of English will be the guest speaker. All members of the University community are invited to attend this important event that celebrates the beginning of the new school year. 

Opening Convocation is a unique opportunity for the entire UD campus to honor our Presbyterian tradition and Christian commitment, the diversity of our community, and the pursuit of academic excellence. All University offices, including the Library and Fitness Center will be closed during this time as a way of encouraging colleagues and students to attend. 

Dr. Barz earned his doctorate of philosophy from the University of Minnesota, master of arts from Western Washington University, and his bachelor of science from Concordia University. Barz serves as the Faculty-Athletic Representative and advises undergraduate students for in the Chlapaty Fellowship program. 

Classes will be cancelled from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. to enable all College and Seminary students, faculty, and staff to attend.
