51 Spartans Named Academic All-Iowa Conference

2015-16 Academic All-Iowa Conference list
DUBUQUE, Iowa – The Iowa Conference released their Academic All-Iowa Conference list for eight fall sports as 51 student-athletes from the University of Dubuque posted a 3.5 grade point average or better to achieve the honor.
The Spartans tied with Central for fourth in the Iowa Conference with 51 honorees while Wartburg paced the eight conference schools with 72 selections.
It was a successful fall in and out of the classroom for UD after football won the Iowa Conference title, men’s soccer placed runner up and reached their first IIAC title game, and women’s tennis won the flight C singles title and earned flight A runner-up as it bested its total of 50 fall academic selections from 2014-15.
Spartan football led the way with 12 selections, women’s soccer added nine, and volleyball finished with seven. The men’s and women’s cross country teams both tied with men’s soccer with six honorees. Women’s golf secured three spots and women’s tennis grabbed two spots.
Of the 51 Spartan honorees, 12 were also named All-Iowa Conference in their respective sports.
