BOX SCORE
DUBUQUE, Iowa - Senior outside hitter Klaudia Basierak registered 12 kills and move into sole possession of second-place all-time in Spartan history with 1638 kills as the University of Dubuque volleyball team defeated Rockford University (Ill.), 3-0 (25-8, 25-11, 25-18), on Thursday night.

Basierak needed just one kill after coming into tonight's game tied with Greta Pemsl ('01) for second all-time with 1626 kills. The benchmark kill came midway through the first set as the Spartans (12-12, 2-2 Iowa Conference) rolled to a 25-8 first set victory. UD posted a match-best .435 hitting percentage in the first while Rockford (7-12, 1-3 NACC) hurt themselves after hitting a paltry -.407 with 12 hitting errors.

It was one of UD's most efficient games of the season after finishing the match hitting .298. Basierak, looking to become UD's first four-time First Team All-IIAC honoree, fell short of collecting at least 15 kills for just the second time in the last 10 games, but had her most efficient night after hitting .476. The Hainesville, Ill. native now sets her sights on chipping away at Jena Goedken's ('07) far off record of 2012 career kills.

The senior has been a workhorse throughout her career for the Spartans and already holds the career attacks record. Basierak currently leads the Iowa Conference in kills with 3.99 per set.

Amanda Reetz (seven kills) and Karrah Davis (six kills) and three other Spartans hit over .316 in UD's seventh sweep of the year.

Setters Hannah Zieser and Alyssa Cose kept the ball moving with 18 and 13 assists, respectively. On the defensive end, libero Kristin Wright added a game-high 16 kills.

UD remained undefeated against Rockford and improved to 13-0 all-time. Ten of their 13 wins have been sweeps.
