Manternach Guides Men's Golf to Third at Edgewood Fall Invite

JANESVILLE, Wis. - Senior Chance Manternach shot a 66 in round two, finished runner up, and led the University of Dubuque men's golf team to a third-place finish out of 19 teams at the two-round Edgewood Fall Invite on this weekend.

Sitting in fourth-place after round one at the par 71, 6,849 yard Glen Erin golf course, the Spartans improved by one stroke on Saturday and placed third overall with a 599 (+31). The Spartan squad, comprised of five seniors, finished 14 shots back of first-place Carthage (585, +17) and just two shots back of runner-up Wisconsin Lutheran (597, +29).

Manternach blitzed the course in round two after improving his day one score by nine strokes. The Monticello, Iowa native finished up with a 75-66 in his best career finish.

Troy Krueger (T10th, 152) backed Manternach while Tyler Engelken and Cameron Shere, who led the team after round one, both ended up tied for 38th with a 155.   

Anders Haukoos (T47th, 157) rounded out the Spartan Five.

The Spartans head right down the road to Thunder Hills Country Club in Peosta, Iowa on September 8th to compete in the Loras Fall Invitational.
