Men’s Lacrosse Suffers Tough Defeat to Concordia

DUBUQUE, Iowa – Junior midfielder Joshua Berey-Wingate scored two goals and collected eight ground balls in 19-5 defeat to Concordia (Wis.) on Satuday afternoon.

The Spartans (1-7) dug themselves an early hole and didn’t score until the 48-second mark of the second quarter on a solo goal by Joseph Furnstahl en route to a 10-1 deficit at the break. Led by Berey-Wingate, came alive in the second half after scoring four of their five total goals. Both midfielders, Michael Julius and Joseph Furnstahl, added one goal and one assist each.

Spartan goalkeeper Kyle Mullins (1-6) collected 15 saves.

The Spartans were outshot, 51-21, against the Falcons (7-3), but were efficient in converting 9 of 12 clears.

The Spartans visit the Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE) this Wednesday, April 12 at 7:00 p.m.
