CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - The University of Dubuque men's tennis team was held winless in three doubles matches en route to a 5-0 defeat at the hands of #4 seed Central College in the first round of the Iowa Conference tournament on Friday afternoon.

The #5 seed Spartans (5-17, 2-5 Iowa Conference) saw their season come to an end after the Dutch clinched the match with a pair of singles victories against UD's No. 4 Jordan Hamling and No. 6 Alvaro Blanco. Both fell in straight sets as the remainder of the singles bouts were unfinished.

UD won just four total games as the Spartans dug themselves a 3-0 hole through the first three doubles matches.

As the primary No. 2 singles player, sophomore Matthew Sablay (11-10) led the team with 11 singles wins after going 10-6 at No. 2 and 1-4 at No. 1. Sablay teamed with fellow sophomore Ranfer Hernandez (primary No. 3 singles) to pace the team with a 6-12 doubles record, including 3-3 in the Iowa Conference.
