Tough Start for Volleyball at Wheaton Invite

WHEATON, Ill. - The University of Dubuque volleyball team fell to host Wheaton (Ill.), 3-0 (25-16, 25-12, 25-18), in match one of four at the two-day Wheaton Invite on Friday night.

Junior Karrah Davis finished with a team-high nine kills for a Spartan team that registered their second-lowest hitting percentage of .021 since a setback at Colorado College on September 5. Setter Alyssa Cose posted a game-high 20 assists and was one of five Spartans (9-10, 1-2 Iowa Conference) who collected four digs.

The Thunder (6-11) hit .217 or better in each set and ended up with a .237 hitting percentage for the match. It was their third win in the last nine matches with one of those wins coming against UD's rival, Loras, in straight sets. 

The Spartans finish up the Wheaton Invite tomorrow, October 3, with matches against North Central (Ill.) at 9:45 a.m. and UW-Stevens Point at 12:15 p.m.
