Volleyball Bested by Coe in IIAC Opener

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - The University of Dubuque volleyball team was held to .024 hitting percentage in three-set defeat (14-25, 20-25, 17-25) at Coe in their Iowa Conference opener on Tuesday night.
The Spartans (4-6, 0-1 IIAC) struggled against a stout Coe defense after posting a negative hitting percentage in the first and third sets. UD kept it close in the second thanks to a .125 hitting percentage, but couldn't get over the hump.
Senior Klaudia Basierak led the Spartans with eight kills while senior Karrah Davis racked up seven.
UD dropped to 22-27 all-time against Coe (8-3, 1-0 IIAC), but the Kohawks have won 10 straight in the series.
The Spartans head to the Augustana Viking Classic to take on Beloit College at 5:30 p.m. and Augustana at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, September 18.
