Women's Basketball Find Road Schedule Tough

SUPERIOR, Wis. - The University of Dubuque women's basketball team has found their opening schedule to be a tough start to their 2015-16 season. Sunday, Nov. 15, UD faced a hot shooting UW-Superior Yellowjackets team who sank over 50% from the field en route to a 95-70 win over the Spartans.
Abbey Meyer led the way for Dubuque with 19 points and 6 rebounds, leading her team in both categories. Molly Richardson finished with 15 points, while Emily Brinker chipped in 13 with four rebounds. The Yellowjackets shot 52.2% from the field, hitting 6-16 3-pointers, while going 17-25 from the free throw line. UD shot 35.8% from the field, hitting 5-21 three point shots, while going 27-36 from the free throw line. The Yellowjackets had six turnovers while Dubuque had 15. Sixteen Spartans made an appearance with eleven of the scoring in the loss.
The Spartans are preparing for a trip to Puerto Rico next weekend, Nov. 21-22. UD opens the tournament facing the University of Metropolitan before facing University of Sacred Heart in their final day.
