BOX SCORE
ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – Senior attacker Kelly Wetherald scored three goals and assisted on one other as the University of Dubuque women’s lacrosse team was held to its lowest scoring total of the season in 19-4 defeat to the CCIW defending champions, Augustana (Ill.), on Wednesday night.

The Spartans (9-3, 1-1 CCIW) forced the Vikings into 26 turnovers, but saw Augustana dominate draw controls, 22-3, and the shot count, 33-10.

Wetherald scored her 43rd and 44th goals in the first half as UD faced its largest deficit of the season, 9-2, at the break. Her final goal cut the Augustana (11-1, 2-0 CCIW) lead to 11-4 just nine seconds into the second half, but the Vikings closed out with the final eight goals of the game.

Wetherald needs just four more goals in the final five games to break teammate Bridget Schirmers all-time single season goals record of 48.

Augustana has outscored the opposition, 190-58, this season and has allowed only one opponent in double-digits.

UD starts its string of four conference opponents in its final five games when it hosts CCIW-member Illinois Wesleyan this Saturday, April 16 at 1:00 p.m.
