Women's Tennis Falls Despite Pair of Martinez Wins

WAVERLY, Iowa - The University of Dubuque women's tennis team fell to Wartburg College on the road, 2-7, despite a singles and doubles win from Arantxa Martinez on Saturday morning.
Martinez took down Wartburg's No. 1 singles player 7-5, 6-2 and teamed up with Marissa Joers to emerge victorious at No. 1 doubles, 8-5. Martinez improved to 7-1 in singles and 5-3 in doubles with Joers.
At No. 3 doubles, Naomi Bokela and Taylor Fortmann put up a fight until eventually dropping their match 8-3.
The Spartans (0-8, 0-6 IIAC) head to St. Ambrose University this Tuesday, September 22 at 4:00 p.m.
