Arantxa Martinez Named Academic All-District

DUBUQUE, Iowa – University of Dubuque’s women’s tennis player, Arantxa Martinez was selected to CoSIDA Academic All-District NCAA Division III District 8 women’s at large team for her efforts on the court and in the classroom in the 2016-2017 school year.
Martinez, a junior from San Luis Potosi, Mexico and Instituto Technolgio y de Estudios Superi has a 3.55 GPA while majoring in business and marketing.
On the court, Arnatxa Martinez was dominant in the 2016-2017 season for the Spartans. After an undefeated regular season she went on to become the Iowa Conference Singles Flight A Champion after being runner up the previous two years. With the singles championship, Martinez capped off a perfect 20-0 record in single matches.
Martinez teamed up with Ines Albino in the doubles section of the Iowa Conference Tournament where rolled past their competition and took the championship in Flight A doubles. In doubles action this season Martinez went a combined 14-5, 7-1 with Ablino and 7-4 when paired up with Marissa Joers.
