DUBUQUE, Iowa- Emily Brinker was the lone University of Dubuque women’s basketball player to earn All-Iowa Conference honors for the 2016-17 season, being named First Team All-Iowa Conference on Thursday.

Brinker led the Spartans in points and rebounds per game in the 2016-17 season, averaging 16.6 points per game and 7 rebounds per game. This season, Brinker passed the 1,000 point mark and moved into the top 10 of the UD all-time scoring list. She also set the UD free throw record, making 32 in a row to pass the old school record of 24 free throws makes in a row. Brinker was Second Team All-Iowa Conference in 2015-16 and earned Honorable Mention All-Iowa Conference in the 2014-15 season.

On January 30th, Brinker was named IIAC Women’s Basketball Performer of the Week and IIAC Female Athlete of the Week. In the Spartans three games that week, Brinker scored 30, 13 and 22 points while also grabbing 31 rebounds throughout the three games, two of which resulted in Wins over Luther and Buena Vista.

“Being named First Team All-Conference is a nice way to cap off my career here at UD. It's nice to see that all the hard work put in the last 4 years has paid off, but I never would've gotten this far without my teammates challenging me every day in practice,” commented Brinker. “I also couldn't thank Coach Noll and our assistant coaches enough for having confidence in me and believing that I could be successful in my career.”
