Dec 7, 2016

PELLA, Iowa - The University of Dubuque men's basketball team tied the game at 62-62 with 3:30 to go after Jake Weber's two made free throws on Wednesday night before the Dutch outscored UD 2-11 in the final minutes, capturing the conference tilt by a 73-64 score.

The Spartans had some open looks in the final minutes, but the ball would not find the basket. T.J. Lake led all scorers with 27 points after sinking 10-27 shot attempts from the field. Jake Weber would finish with another double-double after grabbing 10 rebounds and adding 16 points in the loss.

The Spartans made 24-70 field attempts (34.3%), 8-25 from the three point arc (32%), and 8-11 at the free throw line. UD would see just five points scored by the bench players while the host Dutch captured 16 points from their bench personnel. Lucas Daniels accumulated three block shots in 14 minutes of action. The two teams would combine to finish with just 16 turnovers (UD-9 and Central-7) and the Spartans scored just a pair of points off the Dutch miscues while the Dutch garnered eight points in UD's mistakes.

Saturday, UD will travel north to face the UW-Stout Blue Devils (5-2 overall) in a non-conference tilt in Menomonie, Wis. at 4:00 p.m.
