PLATTEVILLE, Wis. - The University of Dubuque Men’s basketball team was defeated by UW-Platteville on Wednesday night, 78-83.

The Spartans dug themselves an early hole to the Pioneers, trailing by as much as 13 points at one point. UD continued to battle back, cutting the Pioneers lead to within five points at multiple times but could not quite get over that hump. "Platteville shot the ball very well and we were never able to get enough stops in order to successful" said UD head coach Robbie Sieverding.

TJ Lake caught fire from the field tonight for the Spartans as he dropped 31 points on nine of 18 from the field and connecting on seven of his 12 three point attempts. Three other Spartans reached double digits in the scoring column on the night.  Jamaree Atwater returned to action for the Spartans after a week off because of an injury to contribute 12 points and three rebounds. Jacob Mohlis contributed 11 points, three rebounds and two blocks, while freshman Jalen Jackson provided a spark off the bench by making three, three pointers and finishing with 11 points in his 16 minutes. "TJ (Lake) played really well for us and kept us in the game but Platteville played a much better 40 minutes," continued coach Sieverding. "We are still learning as a group how hard it is to win especially on the road against good teams. I believe this group will continue to improve as the season moves forward but we need to be more consistent on both ends."
