Men's Lacrosse Downed by Vikings on the Road

ROCK ISLAND, Ill. - The University of Dubuque men's lacrosse team lost to the Augustana College Vikings on Wednesday night 6-19. The Spartans scored one goal in the first and second periods before opening the third period with a pair of goals and ended with two more goals in the final period. Augustana opened with two goals in the first period before breaking the match open with nine goals in period two. Augie added four goals in the third and fourth periods to secure the victory.

Leading the offense was Josh Berry-Wingate and teammate Tyson Svoboda both finished with two goals each. Matt Penalvert and Michael Jango scored one goal a piece. Michael Julius earned three assists and Berry-Wingate one.

UD finished with 33 shots while the host Vikings had 45. Penalvert led UD with 12 shots and Jango led in shots on goal with five. The Spartans collected 23 ground balls with Berry-Wingate grabbing five. UD won 9-28 face-offs and were 11-17 in team clears.

Keeper Kyle Mullins finished the night with 10 saves, stopping five in the first period, three in the second, and two in the third period.

The Spartans host North Central University Rams on Saturday, April 8 at 12:00 p.m. on Oyen Field.
