Men's Lacrosse Start Strong Against Cardinals

DUBUQUE, Iowa - The University of Dubuque's men's lacrosse jumped out to an early 2-1 lead over the North Central Cardinals on Wednesday night under the lights of Oyen Field before the visitors rallied to outscore the Spartans 10-1 to capture the CCIW match 11-3.

Michael Jango would score all three of the Spartan goals. He scored with 10:42 left in the first period, scored his second goal at 2:33 mark of the first, and captured the hat trick with 13:44 left in the third. Joe Furnstahl added an assist in the loss. UD finished with 20 shots, 15 ground balls, 15-16 in clears, 7-17 in face-offs, 0-6 in extra man opportunities.

Josh Berry-Wingate led with three ground balls and won 7-13 face-offs. Kyle Mullins collected 16 saves as the Cardinals ended the evening with 44 shots.

The Spartans (8-6 overall, 0-4 in IIAC) travel to play at Carroll University in Waukesha, Wis., on Easter Weekend, April 15 at 1:00 p.m. before returning back to Oyen Field on April 19 vs. Elmhurst College at 5:00 p.m.
