Men's Soccer Blast Past Pioneers

Waukesha, Wis. - The Spartans men’s soccer team rolled by the Carroll University Pioneers 5-1, on Wednesday night.

The Spartans came out on fire, with Gonzalo Hernandez scoring their first goal in the eight minute of the game.  Hernandez came right a minute and a half later for another goal to give Dubuque a quick 2-0 lead. The goals were Hernandez’ 10th and 11th goals of the season. Chris Rigby got in on the scoring three minutes later for his first goal of the season and his career.

After a quick goal to start the second half for Carroll, the Spartans responded right back with goals from Malcom Phillips and Matheus Santos.  On Santos’ goal, Malcom Phillips contributed the assists for his fourth assist of the year, which is the second most on the team. The Spartans had fantastic energy tonight, as they outhustled the Pioneers all night and controlled the pace of the game.   

The Spartans travel to Nebraska Wesleyan University on Saturday for a 3:30 p.m. start time, before returning home on October 5th against Loras College at 7:30 p.m.
