Game 1: Ramapo College of N.J

UD struggled to get their bats going in the opening game of the Central Flordia Spring Games, only collecting two hits and drawing four walks. Makayla Witt, went all seven innings on the mound for the Spartans, giving up 10 hits and three runs, however, none of those runs were earned. 
 

Game 2: Carroll University

After a slow start to the game, UD finally got the bats going in the sixth inning with a four run rally to cut the deficit to two runs but could not scratch across anymore runs. Ellie Schneider went 2 for 3 at the plate for UD with an RBI and a run scored. After UD starter Mackenzie Kyle gave up six runs, three earned, in the first two innings of the game, Taylor Blair came in and shut down Carroll for the next four innings.

The Spartans struck first in the top of the first inning but the lead did not last long and the Spartans offense was held in check for the remainder of the game. Starter Randee Jackson lasted just 1 2/3 innings allowing six runs, only two earned, before Makayla Witt came in and shut down Mt. St. Joseph's over the next 4 1/3 innings. Courtney Markin went 2 for 3 for UD.

Taylor Blair pitched all nine innings for the Spartans, allowing just five hits and one unearned run while striking out six. Kayleigh Leddy came up with the big hit for the Spartans in the bottom of the ninth, singling to right center to score Gabby Marchese and give the Spartans the walkoff victory.

In a game that was dominated by pitching, the Spartans jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the second inning Ellie Schneider singled to start the inning and eventually scored on a passed ball two batters later. Trasylvania shut down the Spartans offense after that point, only giving up one UD hit after the second inning. Mackenzie Kyle was the tough luck, losing pitcher for UD, going all seven innings, allowing five hits and two runs, however both runs were unearned. 


Game 6: The College of New Jersey

UD managed to outhit the College of New Jersey in the afternoon game on Tuesday, but the Spartans left seven runners on base and committed three errors on defense. Senior, Dia Borden and freshman Taylor Allard led the Spartans with both going two for three at the plate, with Allard also driving in the only run for UD in the fifth inning. With the three errors, only five of the nine runs were earned. 

Game 7: St. Norbert College

UD got back to winning on Thursday morning with a 6-4 win over St. Norbert. UD exploded for six runs in the third inning and did not need anymore runs after that.
In that six run fourth inning, the Spartans racked up seven hits as they sent 11 batters to the plate. Gabby Marchese started the inning with a single and eventually scored,
before doubling later in the inning to bring home two runs. Taylor Blair started in the circle for UD and picked up her second win throwing all seven and allowing nine hits.

In a high scoring affair, six errors were too much to overcome on Wednesday afternoon. Taylor Allard continues to be on a hitting tear in Florida as she colleceted two more hits in four at bats, while scoring both of the times she reached base and driving in two other runs. Kayleigh Leddy also had two base knocks in the game, with five other Spartans recording one hit. Mackenzie Kyle and McKenna Witt both pitched for the Spartans and gave up a combined two runs however, only five were earned. 

Game 7: Hamilton College

The Spartans were only able to muster up five hits but still scratched across five runs, however it was not enough to get past Hamilton College. Brandy Heraty
went 2 for 3 with two RBI's for the Spartans, while also scoring a run herself. Taylor Allard also collected two RBI's for UD as she went 1 for 4. The game was
scoreless unitl Hamilton busted out for five runs in the fourth and one more in the fifth. UD responded by cutting their deficit to just one run going into the
seventh but could not manage to spark another rally.

UD closed out their spring break trip with by upsetting the 10th ranked team in the nation 2-0.  The Spartans got on the board in the third inning as Nicole Blum singled and stole second, before being driven home by Dia Borden. They added an insurance run in the sixth as Courtney Markin doubled to left center field and the next batter, Taylor Allard, doubled to bring her home. Mackenzie Kyle started in the circle for UD and threw a complete game shutout and only allowing five hits.
