Softball Held Scoreless at UW-Whitewater

WHITEWATER, Wis. - The University of Dubuque softball team was held scoreless on Thursday night losing the opener 0-7 and game two by a 0-10 score in five innings at UW-Whitewater. The Spartans were held to four hits in the first game and one hit by Taylor Allard in game two.

Nikki Blum led the offense in the opening game after she grabbed two hits in three at bats. Dia Borden and Allard earned one hit each. The Spartans turned one double play in the loss. Taylor Blair started and tossed two innings striking out two batters and allowed five hits and three earned runs after facing 13 batters. Randee Jackson threw the final four innings struck out three batters and allowed nine hits, four earned runs and faced 21 Warhawks.

In game two, the Spartans garnered one hit in the fourth inning and that would be the offense. Both teams were scoreless through two innnings before the Warhawks scored six runs in six hits in the bottom of the third. The hosts would add another four runs on one hit in the bottom of the fourth to extend the lead 10-0. The top of the fifth was a quick inning with UD striking out, grounding out, and ending the game early with a strike out looking.

The Spartans host the Nebraska Wesleyan University Prairie Wolves on Saturday, April 8 in a doubleheader beginning at 1:00 p.m. Monday, April 10 UD will host UW-Platteville in a doubleheader beginning at 3:00 p.m.
