Spartans Move to 2-0 with Win Over Monmouth

DUBUQUE, Iowa- The University of Dubuque women's lacrosse team improved to 2-0 on this young season, as they battled the cold and rolled past Monmouth College, 14-4. 

After an impressive win against Clarke to open the season on Wednesday night, the Spartans continued their dominate ways, winning their second consective game by double digits. After six goals goals last game, Claire Carlson found the net four more times, while Alora Esparza also had four goals to power the Spartan attack. UD had no problem sharing the ball today, as they assisted on eight of their 14 goals, with Breann Tjaarda dishing out three of those.

Kaley Weir blocked nine Fighting Scot shots, while only giving up four goals on Saturday to earn her second win in as many games this season. UD dominated in most aspects of the game, outshooting Monmouth 37-15, won 16 of the 20 draws and forced 17 turnovers while only turning it over six times themselves.
