Spartans Rally From Early Deficit to Win 12-9

DUBUQUE, Iowa – The University of Dubuque men’s lacrosse team rallied from an early four goal deficit to take down Trine University, 12-9.

The Spartans spotted the Thunder a four goal advantage, as Trine jumped out to a 4-0 lead after the first quarter. UD found their rhythm in the second quarter as Tyson Svoboda got the Spartans on the board with their first two goals of the game. The Spartans would score two more times in the second quarter to tie the game at four going into halftime. Josh Berry-Wingate led the Spartans with five goals on only nine shots. Berry-Wingate was also a factor at the faceoff circle, winning 9-15 faceoffs for UD. Tyson Svoboda also provided a nice spark for the Spartan offense with three goals.

Kyle Mullins had another solid performance in the net for UD, stopping 13 Thunder shots, including some clutch saves in crunch time to help the Spartans stay on top and secure the win. Mullins recorded his second win of the season in the process.
