Track and Field at Iowa Conference Championships

DUBUQUE, Iowa – The University of Dubuque women’s and men’s track teams head to Storm Lake, Iowa and Buena Vista University for the 2017 Iowa Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
In last week’s final tune up for the conference championships at the Dr. Tucker Loras College Open, the Spartans came away with many quality performances. On the women’s side, Tanasha Atwater came away a double champion with wins in the shot put and hammer throw, with a school record toss in the hammer. In the shot put, UD women took home first second and third place. Atwater took home the gold in shot, Lauren Egnarski in second place and Kayla Schlicting in third.
The men brought home two titles, both coming in field events. Alex Link was a champion in the discus with a toss of 49.49m and Blaze Murfin launched the hammer throw 57.50m for the win.
The men’s team is looking to defend their crown as they won the 2017 Iowa Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships for the first time in school history. Both the women’s and men’s teams have won three meets this season.
