UD Top-10 Moments: No. 1 Men’s Basketball Wins First IIAC title since 1990

DUBUQUE, Iowa – Headlined by the winningest senior class in school history and two-time Iowa Conference MVP Andre Norris, the University of Dubuque men’s basketball team won their first Iowa Conference regular season title since 1990.

The Spartans finished 7-0 at home during IIAC play en route to an 11-3 conference record that included a 15-point win over Loras in front of a record-setting Stoltz crowd of 2600+ fans.

Led by Norris, the IIAC MVP and Defensive Player of the Year, the Spartans led the IIAC in scoring defense (65.7 ppg), scoring percentage defense (39.5%), rebounding margin (+4.2), and outscored opponents by an IIAC-best 10 points a game.

Norris and the senior class won a school record 84 games along with a pair of IIAC tournament titles in 2013 and 2015 and this season’s IIAC regular season title. With the championship, Coach Sieverding and the Spartans finished Top-3 in the Iowa Conference for the seventh straight season and own a mark of 74-30 during that span, best in the league.
