UD Top-10: No. 3 Norris’ Legend Grows as Two-Time IIAC MVP and UD’s All-Time Leading Scorer

DUBUQUE, Iowa – Senior Andre Norris racked up a plethora of awards that included consensus All-American, two-time Iowa Conference MVP, Iowa Conference Defensive Player of the Year, and UD’s all-time leading scorer in leading the men’s basketball team to their first Iowa Conference regular season title since 1990.

The high-flying, do-it-all forward finished with 1936 points and departed UD as arguably the greatest player in program history. Norris also left as the all-time career leader in three-point percentage (42.3) and games played (108) along with Top-5 ranks in career points per game (17.9), total rebounds (831), field goals made (708), field goals attempted (1317), free throws made (371), free throws attempted (519), and blocks (142).

Norris posted averages of 22.4 points and 11.5 rebounds, both league highs, in 14 IIAC games to help the Spartans clinch their first IIAC regular season title since 1990. The Plainfield, Ill. native was the only player in IIAC history to earn both IIAC MVP and IIAC Defensive Player of the Year in the same season and helped deliver the Spartans third title in five seasons after adding IIAC tournament titles in 2013 and 2015.

Led by Norris, the 2016 four-man senior contingent departed as the school’s all-time winningest class with 84 victories.
