Volleyball Bested By Augustana in Non-Conference Match

DUBUQUE, Iowa- Women’s volleyball fell in four sets to Augustana College on Tuesday night, 25-23, 20-25, 16-25, 20-25.

The Spartans jumped out to great start as they took the first set 25-23. In set one UD had a hitting percentage of .233 with 16 kills, while holding the Vikings to only eight kills and a hitting percentage of .103. With their chances in the remaining three sets, the Spartans were not quite able to break through, even with their spirited effort, as the Vikings cranked up their offensive attack.

Dubuque had 80 total digs tonight on defense with Jenna Runde leading the way with 30.  Johanna Steggall added 16 digs, along with 12 from Karrah Davis and 10 from Alyssa Cose. UD also added seven blocks as a team, four coming from senior Anna Runge. On the offensive side, the Spartans were led by a balanced attack.  Karrah Davis headed the attack with 15 kills, Kendall Kaufmann was right behind with 12, Anna Runge added seven and Anna Grace pitched in six. 

The Spartans head to St. Louis this weekend for four games, before returning home on October 25th for their last home game of the year against Wartburg College with varsity beginning at 7:30 p.m.
