Volleyball Drops First Two Matches at Active Ankle Invite

ST. LOUIS, Mo. - The Spartans dropped their first two matches at the Active Ankle Invitational hosted by Washington University in St. Louis to Illinois Wesleyan 0-3 (25-12,25-19,25-19) and #17 Washington University 0-3 (25-20, 25-13, 25-17).

In the first match of the afternoon, Karrah Davis paced the Spartans offense with 13 kills and with a hitting percentage of .286, while also managing to add nine digs and three block assists. Jenna Runde was her typical self as she led the Spartans with 15 digs on defense and pitched in two assists on offense.

In the nightcap against #17 Washington University, Alyssa Cose led the attack with a hitting percentage of .333 and Rylee Andresen had a percentage of .286. Jenna Runde and Karrah Davis were both in double digits for digs as Runde had 12 and Davis added 11.

With nine more kills on the day, Karrah Davis now has 370 kills on the season, which leads the team. There are four other Spartans with over 100 kills; Kendall Kaufmann is second on the team with 171, Anna Runge has 155, Lauren Egnarski has added 151 and Anna Grace is at 133 kills.

The Spartans conclude the Active Ankle Invitational in St. Louis tomorrow with a game at 9:30 a.m. against #25 UW-Eau Claire and their fourth and final game at 11:30 a.m. versus Millikin.
