Box Score

DUBUQUE, Iowa- The Dubuque Spartans volleyball team fell to Coe College 2-3 (25-15, 22-25, 25-22, 20-25, 12-15) on Tuesday night at the Stoltz Sports Center.

The Spartans came out on fire in the first set, storming off to a huge lead and taking the first set in a convincing fashion. The next four sets were a back and forth battle between the Spartans and Kohawks.  Karrah Davis led the Spartans balanced offensive attack with 22 kills of the team’s 70. Lauren Egnarski and Kendall Kaufmann added 12, while Anna Grace and Anna Runge both contributed 10 kills. Alyssa Cose was a huge part of the attack as she led the Spartans with 50 of the teams 58 assists.

The defense was very active tonight with 77 digs, with four Spartans having double digit digs, led by Johanna Steggall with 19 and Jenna Runde. However, even with all the contributions from each Spartan, there were a few inopportune errors from the Spartans that gave the Kohawks just enough of an edge to take the match.

The Spartans continue conference play at Simpson College on Friday night at 7:30 p.m.
