Women's Basketball Take Road Victory Over Northland

ASHLAND, Wis. - The University of Dubuque women's basketball team returned after a short holiday break to capture a road victory on Saturday night 80-58 over Northland College.

The Spartans trailed at the end of the first quarter 19-22 to the hosts before out shooting them in the second by scoring 15 points while holding them to a single digit of nine points. The Spartans entered the halftime locker room with a slim 34-31 edge. After the break, UD would out score the Lumberjills 21-9 in the third quarter and 25-18 in the fourth quarter.

UD shot 44.9% from the field (31-69 attempts), 25% from the three point arc (3-12), and sank 15-20 free throw attempts (75%). A very balanced scoring attack left 15 Spartans with points in the game with Morgan Boer being the only double digit scorer with 11 points. She would also be the leader in rebounding with seven boards. The Lumberjills held the advantage in rebounding 37-34.

The Spartans worked the ball inside scoring 36 points in the paint and would add another 29 points off turnovers. UD would use the bench players often with 12 making an appearance and scoring a combined 46 points.

UD 2-3 overall will travel to play the Buena Vista University Beavers in Storm Lake, Iowa on Wednesday, Nov. 30 at 6:00 p.m.
