Women's Soccer Drop Final Non-Conference Match

DUBUQUE, Iowa- Women’s soccer fell to UW-Eau Claire on Wednesday night in a defensive battle, 0-1.

On a night where both teams struggled to get much going on offense, it took a long shot by Emily Sullivan from UW-Eau Claire in the 51st minute that just got over the head of Spartan goalie, Megan Moll. Shots were at a premium on Wednesday night as there were only a combined 13 shots, while on five of those were on goal, four for UW-Eau Claire and only one shot on goal for Dubuque. 

The loss for the Spartans ends a great run of matches as this is their first defeat in six games. The Spartans continue to outshoot their opponents on the season as they have 97 shots to their opponents 95.  However, the Spartans goals scored per game is much greater than their opponents, as they average 1.7 goals per game to the opponent’s one goal per game, on a shot percentage of .175 to .105.

The Spartans continue play on Saturday at Nebraska Wesleyan University at 1:00 p.m.
