Women's Soccer Fall in Home Opener

DUBUQUE, Iowa - The University of Dubuque women's soccer kicked off their 2016 season under the lights of Oyen Field on Thursday. The Spartans fell behind 0-1, but rallied to knot the game in the first half 1-1. The second half belonged to the UW-La Crosse Eagles who captured the game by adding three goals in the second half for the 4-1 victory. 

The Spartans Amanda Chlebek scored the game tying goal in the opening half at 37:45 off a header on a corner kick by Lauren Cangelosi. UD was out shot 6-13 in the loss and starting goal keeper Paige Dykstra stopping four shots on goal. Sixteen Spartans saw action in Thursday's opener with five of them getting a shot.

UD will host the UW-Oshkosh Titans on Saturday afternoon at 3:00 p.m. on Oyen Field.
