2017 Central College Last Chance Invite

PELLA, Iowa - The University of Dubuque wrestling team spent Saturday, Feb. 11 competing at the Central College Last Chance Invitational. The Spartans finished wth four place winners.

Printice Walls (133 lbs.) placed 2nd after losing in the finals to Cornell College's Nile Laguna 10-1. Blake Howerton (149 lbs.) won his first match by a major decision 16-2 over Cornell's Adam Plotkin and lost a hard fought match to Central's Chase Petty 4-7 in the second rouns. He would wrestle back to place 5th. Raven Rodriguez (197 lbs.) lost in the second round to Javier Soto of Loras 4-11, but won the losers bracket to place 3rd. Cariel Beasley (285 lbs.) lost in the first round, but earned his way into the finals of the losers bracket and lost by fall in 3:49 to finish 4th.

UD will enjoy a short break before returning to action on Monday, Feb. 13 when they battle non-conference opponent, the Cornell College Rams, at 7:00 p.m. in Stoltz Sports Center.
