Cross Country With Solid Performance at Mustang Gallop

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - In the first meet of the 2017 cross country season, the University of Dubuque women's cross country team finished in third place with an average time of 16:38. The men's team averaged ,which was good enough for fourth place.

The Spartan women had two finishers 13th place or better and were led by senior Jaclyn Roeder, who placed sixth with a time of 15:51. Junior Abigail Ray was not far behind Roeder, coming across the finish line in 16:19 for 13th place. In her first collegiate race, Heather Muntz raced to a time of 16:43 and 21st place, third best on the UD team.

On the men's side, UD had two finisher in the top 20 and no one finished lower than 33rd. The top three finishers for the Spartans were all sophomore, led by Dalton Moore, who finished 12th with a time of 16. The other two sophomore, Brandon Sindt and Jacob Heitter completed the race in 17:03 and 17:20, respectively. The Spartans were also without returning All-American Alec Bass, who should return to action shortly.
