Early Goal Lifts Spartans Over Pioneers

DUBUQUE, Iowa - Lauren Cangelosi's goal 5:07 into the match was enough to lift the University of Dubuque women's soccer team to a 1-0 win over UW-Platteville.

How It Happened
-UD fired off the first five shots of the game before the game was even six minutes old.
-On the fifth shot, Lauren Cangelosi collected a blocked shot and fired another shot which found the back of the net to give the Spartans a 1-0 lead.
-UD would take four more shots before UWP could get their first shot off.
-The Pioneers turned up their attack in the second half, putting five shots on goal but UD goalie Paige Dykstra made several spectacualar saves to keep the shutout intact.
-The Spartans outshot the Pioneers in the game 22-9
-UD took 11 corner kicks to UWP's three
