Football's Joseph and Allen Grab IIAC Player of Week Honors

DUBUQUE, Iowa – University of Dubuque’s football student athletes, Dwayne Allen Jr. and Michael Joseph were both named Iowa Conference Players of the Week for their play in the Spartans win on Saturday.  

Dwayne Allen Jr. (So., Hampshire, Ill./St.Edward) rushed for 216 yards on 15 attempts and four touchdowns in UD’s 42-27 win at Nebraska Wesleyan on Saturday afternoon to pick up Co-Iowa Conference Offensive Player of the Week. Allen averaged 14.2 yards per carry and busted off a 71 yard touchdown for his longest run of the day.  Allen was coming off of a 271 yard rushing performance against Buena Vista and now has 972 rushing yards this season and 158.2 yards per game average to lead the Iowa Conference.

Michael Joseph (Sr., Chicago, Ill./Oswego) collected three more interceptions on Saturday to earn Co-Iowa Conference Defensive Player of the week. The three interceptions brings his season total to eight, which is tied for the most in NCAA Division III and is four more than the next closest person in the Iowa Conference. On his three interceptions he collected 30 return yards. Joseph also added three pass break-ups, five solo tackles and one assisted tackle to go with the three interceptions. It is the second time this season that Joseph picked off three passes in a single game.
