Mendoza Named IIAC Golfer of the Week

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – After helping the UD men’s golf team to a first place finish over the weekend, Anthony Mendoza has been named Iowa Conference Golfer of the Week.
Mendoza, a freshman from Savanna, Illinois, was the top finisher for the Spartans this weekend at the Knox College Jim Wetherbee Memorial Invite. Mendoza finished tied for fourth place out of 105 golfers, after shooting a pair a 76’s for a two round total of 152.
“Happy for Anthony, he has put a lot of work in this offseason and played great this weekend in some tough conditions," said UD head coach Dustin Bierman. "Anthony’s short game was very good both days and grinded in the wind. It was a great start to the year with a team win at the Knox College Invite and looking forward building off this.”
Mendoza is the first UD golfer to earn Iowa Conference Golfer of the Week honor since Troy Krueger on April 4th, 2016.
This week the UD men’s golf team will play in the Clarke Invite on April 5th.
