Men's Golf Tie for 9th at Carthage Tournament

WEST DUNDEE, Ill. - The University of Dubuque men's golf team opened the Carthage College Tim Kopka Memorial Tournament with a round of 317 to finish tied for 13th after the first day of the tournament. UD shot a 309 on Saturday to tie for 9th overall.

Anthony Mendoza led the Spartans with a 77 (tied for 38th overall). Cameron Upmann and Garvin Paper are tied for 58th overall after finishing round one with a score of 79 on Friday. The 20-team tournament continued play on Saturday at Randall Oaks Golf Club and the Spartans shot a 309 to jump up in the standings, and tied for ninth with a two day total of 626. Jordan Elliott sliced nine strokes off his opening round to shoot the low score for UD on Saturday with a 72. Medoza led the two day total with a 152 (tied for 22nd overall) as teammates Elliott and Paper tied with a 155 to tie for 34th overall.
