Pointer Named IIAC Track Performer of the Week

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – University of Dubuque’s Colfay Pointer is off to a strong start in his sophomore campaign for the men’s track and field team, earning Iowa Conference Track Performer of the Week honors after his performance at the Sol Butler Classic.
Pointer set an A.Y McDonald Track at Chlapaty Rec Center facility record in the 600m, winning the event in 1:21.62. Pointer also collected points for the Spartans in the 200m dash, finishing fifth in 22.97. The UD men’s team won the event with 155 team points, 28 more than the second place team. Pointer is coming off a sixth-place performance at the 2017 Iowa Conference Indoor Championships in the 400m dash.
The Spartans track and field indoor season rolls on as the Spartans head to Lincoln, Nebraska to partake in the Prairie Wolf Invitational hosted by Nebraska Wesleyan on Friday beginning at 12:00 p.m.
