STORM LAKE, Iowa - The University of Dubuque softball team wrapped up their ninth and tenth game in a six day span with back-to-back road victories over the Buena Vista University Beavers by a 4-3 margin in both contests to improve to 4-10 in the Iowa Conference.

Taylor Blair earned the win on the mound in game one allowing just three earned runs after facing 32 batters. She would come back in the second game and earn a save after .2 innings and finish the afternoon with four strikeouts. Mackenzie Kopp started the second game and would and would walk just one batter through 6.1 innings before Blair came in as the closer forcing a pop up to shortstop and fanning the final batter for the much earned save. The Spartans would make just one mistake on the afternoon, a miscue in the sixth inning in game one.

Morgan Turnmire put the Spartans on the board in the first inning of the opener with a solo homerun, a towering shot to left field. She would finish 2-3 at the plate after adding a double in the top of the seventh to rally for the victory. Taylor Allard and Hailey Wang would both collect two hits as Courtney Markin and Ellie Schneider would end with an RBI.

In the second game, the Spartans jumped out to an early 3-0 lead through six innings before allowing a run in the bottom of the sixth. UD added the winning run in the top of the seventh and held off the Beavers whose rally attempt in the bottom of the seventh fell short. Ann Braithwaite homered to left field with Wang on base to collect 2 RBI's in the sixth and ended the game going 3-3 at the plate. Markin would homer in the seventh, which ended up being the insurance run the Spartans needed for the sweep over the Beavers. UD scored four runs off nine hits and played errorless.

Saturday, the Spartans face the Central College Dutch in Dubuque on Alumni and Senior Day at 1:00 p.m.
