ROCK ISLAND, Ill. - The University of Dubuque softball team faced a changing schedule at the 2018 Augustana Invite and moved Saturday's doubleheader to Friday to beat pending bad weather over the weekend. The Spartans lost the opener 0-9 in five innings and lost game two 6-7 after leading through five innings.
UD collected four hits in game one and added 11 hits in game two. Offensively the Spartans Brandy Heraty went 2-2 in the first game and Taylor Allard went 3-3 in game two with four RBI's and collected three in the fifth after she crushed one out of the ball park with runners at second and third.
There has been a re-working of the schedule for the 2018 Augustana Invitational Softball Tournament and the forecast of a late winter/early spring snowfall is the reason.
Instead of playing on Saturday, March 24 and Sunday, March 25, the tournament tentative schedule is Friday, March 23 and Sunday, March 25.
The tournament will take Saturday off due to the weather forecast but will resume on Sunday, March 25 at Carver Field. The Vikings will play Dubuque at 11:00 a.m. while Dubuque and Wisconsin-LaCrosse will face off at 1:00 p.m. and Augustana and Wisconsin-LaCrosse will end things at 3:00 p.m.
