GALESBURG, Ill. – The University of Dubuque baseball team bounced back from a game one loss on Tuesday night to win game two against the Knox College Prairie Fire and earn the split to move to 12-12 on the season.

How it Happened
-After two and a half innings of scoreless action, Knox took advantage of a UD error in the bottom of the third to grab an early 1-0 lead.
-The Spartans hitters recorded two quick outs in the top of the fourth before Justin Jenson extended the inning with a walk. Kellen Mitchell continued the two out rally with a single before Thomas Kempf drilled a home run to put UD up 3-1.
-In the top of the fifth it was the Spartan offense that took advantage of a leadoff error. Tyler Lewan reached on an error by the Knox shortstop and would eventually score on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Dalton Garst. However, Knox scored one run of their own in the bottom of the inning to make it a 4-2 game in favor of UD.
-In the bottom of the sixth inning, Knox strung together four runs, on four hits and one UD error to grab a 6-4 lead.
-Nasir Ricks ripped a one out double in the game’s final inning and scored on a Jack Lasswell single to make it 6-5. Dalton Garst would single to put runners on first and second with only one out but Knox escaped the jam for the win.

How it Happened
-Knox jumped out to another early lead with one run in the first but back to back doubles in the top of the second from Zach McCoy and JJ Valencia gave UD a 2-1 lead.
-UD pushed their lead to 3-1 in the fourth on an RBI single from Tyler Imrich but the lead who shrink to one again in the fifth inning.
-The Spartans scored one run in sixth when Luke Carroll stole home and added another insurance run in the eighth as Tyler Imrich came up with his second RBI of the game on an RBI groundout for a 5-2 lead.
-UD had a chance to blow the game wide open in the top of the ninth as they loaded the bases with two outs but were not able to take advantage of the opportunity.
-Doug Knight would hold Knox scoreless in the ninth to seal the victory for the Spartans.
-Each time committed four errors in the game but the Spartans outhit the Prairie Fire 10-5.
