PELLA, Iowa – The University of Dubuque men’s soccer team fell in a defensive battle on Wednesday afternoon to the Central College Dutch, 1-0.

How It Happened
-In the fifth minute of the match, UD’s Cameron Scott sent the first shot of the game by either team wide left of the net
-In the 56th minute, Central sent a cross from the left side into the box where Miguel Pina was there to head it into the net for the first goal of the game and put the Dutch up 1-0
-The Spartans had four straight corner kicks in the 62nd and 63rd minutes but could not convert on them, just missing the net on two of the attempts
-UD had a final push in the final few minutes which resulted in a couple of shots but they were either blocked or sailed wide
-Despite taking 16 shots in the game, only three went on goal for the Spartans. Central took 21 shots and six were on goal.
