DUBUQUE, Iowa – The University of Dubuque baseball team traveled across town on Friday night to take on rival Loras College, where the Spartans took game one of the series, 10-1.
How It Happened
-Nasir Ricks got brought home the first two runs for UD in the top of the second with a single up the middle and a throwing error by Loras. UD would grab one more run in the inning on a Jack Lasswell infield hit.
-Loras scored their first and only run of the game in the bottom of the fifth but the Spartans got that run plus another back in the following half inning on a RBI fielder’s choice from Jarad Clevenger and a Duhawk wild pitch.
-UD’s bats continued to stay hot as they sent 17 batters to the plate in the final two innings to tack on five more runs and blow the game open.
