Spartans Wrestling End IIAC Season Tied for Fourth

INDIANOLA, Iowa - The University of Dubuque needed a win on Tuesday night to finish the IIAC regular season tied for fourth place in the league standings. UD jumped out quickly winning the first five matches en route to a 30-15 road victory over the Simpson College Storm.
UD's Jevontae Yarbrough started the night with a narrow 4-3 win at 141 lbs. Zarik Anderson followed it up with an 8-2 dec. at 149 lbs. Kamen Wilmington battled through three periods to edge out a 1-0 dec. at 157 lbs. At 165 lbs. #7-ranked Quincy Kalkbrenner kept the momentum rolling by collecting the fall in 1:58 and teammate Andrew Turner went back-to-back falls with a fall in 1:07 at 174 lbs. to give the Spartans a 21-0 edge midway through the dual. Ethan Cain earned the fall at 197 lbs. in 3:45. Robert Melise held on to a 1-0 lead at 285 lbs. to win the match before the host Storm would win 125 lbs. and 133 lbs. to end the dual 30-15.
UD improved to 9-6 overall and 4-4 in the IIAC, Simpson fell to 3-11 overall and 2-6 in the IIAC.
