Tough Competition For Spartans Three Place Winners at Regional

DUBUQUE, Iowa - The Five Flags Center provided two exciting days of exciting wrestling action for fans of the NCAA Division III Lower Midwest Regional on Saturday and Sunday. The Spartans would finish with three place winners and a ninth place overall finish after scoring 39.5 points.
Quincy Kalkbrenner lost a heartbreaking match for third place and the automatic qualifying spot by a single point 5-6 in the 157 lbs. weight class. Ethan Cain (197 lbs.) and Robert Melise (285 lbs.) would both place fifth.
The Iowa Conference names their All-Iowa Conference Team by the top three placing IIAC wrestlers in their weight class. Kalkbrenner and Melise would be only Spartans to make the All-Conference list in 2018.
