UD Wrestling Capture Win Over #9-ranked Central at IIAC Duals

STORM LAKE, Iowa - The University of Dubuque wrestling team finished the Iowa Conference Duals with a 2-1 record, but the Spartans garnered a upset victory over the #9-ranked Central College Dutch by a 28-15 mark. UD upended Augustana College a week agao who finished 2017 ranked #10. The Spartans are finding their mojo and returning some early season injuries back into the line-up in preparation for the NCAA Regional at the end of February. Updated rankings for NWCA will be released next week.
"Proud of this team's fight in the tough positions today," commented head coach Jon McGovern. "We had tough opponents in this half of the IIAC Duals, to post a win today over another Top-10 nationally ranked team was amazing."
UD opened the first round with a commanding 38-6 score over the host Beavers. The Spartans lone loss happened against top-ranked Wartburg who blanked the Spartans in a 50-0 win.
