Jun 13, 2018

DUBUQUE, Iowa - The University of Dubuque and Loras College softball teams have joined forces since 2012 in conjunction with National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) in raising funds for the Strike Out Cancer initiative. In 2018, the two schools raised their most ever, $7.059.70 which pushes their total raised since 2012 to $21, 215.96.

The program helps raise funds and awareness to fight cancer in the local area. This year the funds have been donated to the Red Shamrock Foundation. The mission of the Red Shamrock Foundation is to raise awareness of the unique health care needs of childhood cancer survivors, and to support survivorship programs and research.

The program leverages the personal experiences, community leadership, and professional excellence of fastpitch softball coaches nationwide to help increase cancer education and promote healthy living through awareness efforts and fundraising activities and nearly $400,000 was raised in 2017.
