Volleyball Moves to 12-0 After Two Wins Saturday

GALESBURG, Ill. - The University of Dubuque volleyball team moved to 12-0 after two wins in straight sets on Saturday. The Spartans did not drop a single set in their four games at the Knox College Tournament.

The Spartans had 96 total attacks versus Macalester, 31 of which went for kills. No Spatan had more than nine kills but six different Spartans did spread out the attack, with six different players having at least one kill. UD assisted on 29 on their 31 kills, which was led Alyssa Cose with 22 of the 31. UD has been a force at the net all season long, coming up with five more blocks this game to give them 80.5 blocks for the season, compared to their opponents who have 46 in games against UD.

UD capped off their perfect weekend with the dominant win over Rockford. 18 different Spartans saw action in this match with 12 of the 18 recording a kill. Shauna McAleer and Kendall Kauffman led the Spartans with eight and seven kills, respectively. The Spartans had 49 assists and 49 digs to go along with their 50 kills. Jenna Runde led the Spartans with 13 digs and Alyssa Cose had 19 assists. Robyn Bowman came off the bench to add 13 assists. 

Jenna Runde was named to the All-Tournament team. Up next, UD hosts crosstown rival, Loras College on Wednesday night at 7:30.
