Women's Lacrosse Capture Victory in Rock Bowl

DUBUQUE, Iowa - The University of Dubuque women's lacrosse team out scored the host Duhawks on Wednesday night in the Rock Bowl to capture the match 9-8. The Spartans jumped out to an early 6-3 lead before the Duhawks rallied and scored a couple of goals right before halftime to knot the game at 6-6.
Cool temperatures in the Midwest couldn't stop the hot shooting Spartan trio of Breann Tjaarda, Cassandra Berger, and Claire Carlson who would all finish with two goals each. UD finished with 18 shots with 13 being on goal. Carlson led with eight caused turnovers and Tjaarda finished with five caused turnovers, seven ground balls, and four draw control wins. UD was 16-34 clears and won nine draw controls.
Kaley Weir captured the complete game victory in the net after stopping 12 Loras shots on goal.
The Spartans (5-2 overall) begin CCIW action on April 7 at Carthage College at 1:00 p.m.
